Dental hygiene tips for healthy teeth & gums

Is it OK to leave your dentures in overnight?

Dentures can boost your confidence so much that you might be tempted to keep them in permanently. Here are some reasons why you need to take them out at night. It is not a good idea to wear dentures at night, regardless of the type you are using. This will result in many health problems down the road. Make sure to remove your dentures every night before you go to sleep. This will keep your mouth free of bacteria, your gums healthy, and your bones strong.

Maintain the Life Of Your Dentures
You can develop bad breath if you leave your dentures in overnight. You should always rest your mouth while sleeping, even if your dentures are comfortable. You can keep your dentures looking clean and feeling fresh by removing your dentures at night and adopting a daily cleaning routine.

Daily Cleaning Routine for Dentures
Let’s take a look at how to clean your dentures well, so they stay in great shape.

  • Pour warm water into a glass, but not boiling or hot, which can distort the dentures.
  • In a warm bowl of water, drop a denture-cleaning tablet, such as Polident.
  • Dentures should be soaked for the time specified on the pack and covered completely with water. It will soften debris if you soak them for a long time.
  • By brushing your dentures gently with a soft-bristle brush and the cleanser tablet solution, you can remove any remaining debris.
  • Let your dentures completely dry under running water before discarding any remaining cleaning solution.

It is possible to harm your oral health if you leave your dentures in for a long time. Plaque is more likely to accumulate on dentures and tongues of people who wear dentures all night long. You are more prone to gum disease, oral thrush, and bone loss if you wear your dentures for a long period without removing them.
